All the emotions confront Anxiety for the first time in Inside Out 2

As if things weren’t complicated enough for young Riley in the first Inside Out … now a new threat looms. Teenagerhood. It is a massive understatement to say that all kinds of new feelings crop up for teens, but the first teaser for Inside Out 2 focuses on a big one.

Say hello to Anxiety, everyone!

But first, it’s demolition day for a bunch of little blue … thumbs? I don’t know what these little construction folks are supposed to be, but they wreak a lot of havoc at feelings HQ—and everything goes even more sideways when Anxiety (with her handfuls of suitcases) appears. But maybe there are more new feelings coming, too?

Maya Hawke voices Anxiety, and joins a cast of returning and new actors as the other feels inside Riley’s head: Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale (replacing Bill Hader) as Fear, and Liza Lapira (replacing Mindy Kaling) as Disgust.

Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann (who wrote and directed Pixar’s “Party Central” short) and written by Meg LeFauve (who co-wrote the first film). The movie—which Disney is calling not the feel-good, but the feel-everything movie of 2024—is in theaters next June.
